I am running in this election for State Representative in District 15 because we need a representative in Springfield that represents our values and concerns. We do not need a special interest representative that is an extension of the corrupted Illinois political machine.
Mark Albers was raised on the south side of Chicago but has made Morton Grove his home for 35 years. He and his wife, Carol, are proud parents of two college graduate daughters.
Mark was a Morton Grove Chamber of Commerce member, was elected to its Board in 2012 and served on the Marketing Committee. In 2015 Mark was elected Board President.
He served on the St. Martha Church Parish Council, becoming its President, and also served on the Parish Finance Committee.
In May 2011 Mark was elected to the Morton Grove Public Library Board of Trustees. He was installed as Board President. Among many accomplishments during his term, the Library commissioned a Community Needs assessment which, along with the Board and staff's help, helped ensure taxpayer money is spent wisely.
In 2014 the Library remodeled the building making it handicap accessible and able to meet the needs of the community.
In 2015 Mark took the lead in drafting and completing a Library Strategic Plan which carried the Library into the future.
After graduating from St Laurence High School, it was off to Moraine Valley Community College (taking night classes) while working full time during the day.
The next stop was the University of Illinois at Chicago where Mark achieved a Bachelor of Science in Marketing while working part-time.
Other education includes:
I worked throughout high school and all through college, landing my first post college position at W.W. Grainger in Niles IL. I held a number of positions over 12 years in the Product management area where we negotiated and bought products from suppliers.
Managing hundreds of different suppliers and hundreds of millions in sales was great education and put me on track for the next steps in my career.
I moved to the sales side of the business next, taking a position with a Manufacturers Rep firm that focused on retail sales. I was charged with starting and building its industrial sales, which I did, and it grew quickly. I moved on to a bigger opportunity after four years.
A much larger Manufacturer Rep firm approached me to rebuild its Industrial business. We achieved sales growth of 21% each year for the 5 years I was there and the company was back on track.
My next employer was one of the largest Manufacturers Rep firms in the industry. In the four years I was there I had the opportunity to manage a sales team and build out its Industrial sales channel. We achieved significant growth while I was there.
After building the businesses of others, it was time to start my own business. In June 2008 I opened my own Sales and Marketing Company.
It has been 14 years now and I have assembled a great team helping to build all types of small and medium sized business.
